Grease, Grease, Grease!

As many of you know we are in the process of opening a Crossfit gym of which we are Co- owners with another couple from Eureka Fire Dept (Meredith and Nick), Dan works with Humboldt Fire and he and Nick are on different schedules so right now it works well that way.  Any how, the "gym" is quite rough as most Crossfit gyms are when they start, it's an old machine shop and covered in layers and layers of oil, grease and grime.  I just spent several hours scraping, scrubbing and more scrubbing and only cleaned about an 8 foot area!  It is a very tedious and dirty job, I am covered in grease and my hands look more like they belong to a mechanic than a housewife.  That oil and grease are so far under my fingernails I wonder if it will ever come out, and they smell like oil too!
The plan is to just clean a section at a time as we can until it's done.  Tonight I discovered that could take FOREVER!  I think we may have a little work/scrub party with our family and them some weekend to try to knock out a big chunk of it.  But right now it's pretty rough.
But, we do have a nice new bathroom!  Which brings me to the other thing I got to do tonight, play janitor.  We had to bathroom basically finished except the floor tiles last week and one day th toilet decided to  back up all over the place and made a nice mess.  Let's just say it didn't look nor smell pretty!  Any how, it ended up being a blockage about 25 feet out and we were able to fix it and get it back in working order.  However, the toilet had dried on "stuff" and the walls, door etc. needed a good scrubbing.  So that's what I did, it now looks and smells nice and pretty.  No more yucky!
Dan just stripped the commercial flooring tiles he laid and is now waxing them so they will be nice and shiny.    And he borrowed our friends weed blower and blew of the parking lot, it seems to collect a lot of trash in that corner.  The wind circles around in there and deposits all the junk right in front of the door.  One of these days I will remember to bring my camera and get pictures for you all.  It's not to impressive of a building but it's been a great place to work out!  Love it!
Our next order of business is to get the kids corner set up, mainly in our own interest so when we are down there they have something more confined for them to do.  Right now they love it and ask to go because they like to swing on the rope swings and rings. But we discovered tonight that it didn't work to well, we were both trying to clean and they were running around making a mess.  And as we get more clients we anticipate some of them being mom's of little ones which will give them another option and allow them to bring their children with them.

  1. Awesome, Sheilla! The family that works out together and also works hard together...is a good family, I think.
