Fourth of July

I am one exhausted mama today!  I am getting to old for this 72 hour Fire Department shift work!  Which equates to not sleeping well for 3 nights in a row.  Top that off with getting to bed late last night do to the 4th and all the noisy fire works.  Then it was up at 6:00 to drive Daniel up to Crescent City, CA (1 1/2 hour drive each direction) so that he could take his driving part of his test and finally get his license.   He was "scheduled" to take it a few weeks ago (which he had to "schedule" 30 days in advance)  however, there was a mess up we think on his part, but anyhow there was no appointment.  And the soonest he could get in was in August sometime.  So...the hence the reason  we drove to Crescent City today.  Thankfully he passed!  When we got there we got a scare because they tried to tell us that he had an appointment for the written not driving test, but it was their mess up this time so they had to go ahead and do it.  Daniel had printed out his confirmation etc. this time just in case!  Came home took a nap, got up and took Kierstynn to her orthodontist appointment to get her bottom braces put on. Then ran some errands and got gas while I was in that part of town.  Did some thrift store shopping and found some cute stuff.  Bought the dog some food and a new collar.  Ready for bed early tonight that's for sure.  I am thankful that I had dinner in the crock-pot and it didn't take much prep.  Oriental pork with fresh shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, etc. and topped with some Faux Thai Peanut Sauce, one of my favorites and sooooo easy.  Nice on a warm day.  Which brings me to this, so it was a "hot" day for us around here today and the house heated up to 76 degrees with all the windows open and everything and the kids thought they were dying!!  It's to hot!  They did enjoy playing in the pool today though!
Had a  busy day yesterday too I ran a 5k fun run, then came home and did a bunch of yard work with the kiddos (especially put my big boys to work on the big weeds!).  Then it was off to clean the gym so it would be ready for today.  Then home again and ready for a nap, Steven and I hung out while Jamie took all the other kids to do fireworks at the church.  It was really neat because Kierstynn is really growing up and enjoying her sisters a little more, she picked out patriotic clothes for them all to wear to the festivities last night and did their hair.  Cute!
Looking forward to Dan's return tomorrow morning, although he is always really tired himself after being on duty for 72 hours.  At least he will be home, it usually takes him a day or two to catch up and then it's time to go back to work again.  Sometimes I wonder how he does it all!  Lord Bless my husband!
