We have been "busy" enjoying summer, the more relaxed pace is a welcome reprieve.  Monday we enjoyed an impromptu get together at the beach with friends.  It was a gorgeous warm day, although a bit breezy at the beach, most of us were still in tank tops and shorts or capris  and the kids were swimming in the bay.  It was so much fun and a great way to kick off summer.  Today we have rain which is also a very welcome treat.  It means we get to work on indoor "projects"  like reorganizing, rearranging furniture, etc., I really have put off making this place a home but realizing that we have at minimum another year here makes me want to make it work better for us and feel like home.  We all miss "home", even the kids talk of going back to the "big house"  even though the square footage is more here, it doesn't feel like it.  It is very oddly laid out and doesn't work to well for us, but thankfully it's temporary.  The kitchen just about drives me nuts, for us the kitchen really is like the heart of the home.  It's where everything happens, I spend  a huge amount of time there in a day, especially since going Paleo this past year.  So I really, really miss my big kitchen and that will be a must on the list for our next house, whether we buy or build.  That and a HUGE laundry room, no more small, non existent laundry rooms for me!  I don't think I have ever had a "real" laundry room yet.  Oh, well, at least I have a laundry room right?!
And we are just starting a garden, Dan built 4 large raised beds for us and we are excited.  We have 3 tomato plants in pots that are doing really well right now, they love the southern exposure on my deck, it's nice and protected.  We have one large tomato and quite a few cherry size tomatoes growing.  I'm thinking we need to add a Jalapeno plant to the mix so we can have fresh Pico de Galo!  Yum!
