Steven so proud he climbed up on Great Grandma's chair all by himself.
Steven Coe and his Great Grandma Helen Whittern.
Grandpa Coe and Steven Coe, using Great Grandma's cane.
Steven Coe playing with his great Aunt Persenia while she is on the phone.
Grandma Helen Whittern having Dad look for the old trucks, she was sure were in the basement somewhere.
Grandma Helen Whittern, my dad and Dan, looking at some really old newspaper clippings.
Grandma Helen Whittern showing my Dad the Telegrams that were sent when Grandpa Keith Died, and following that time period.
My Grandma Helen Whittern with her mom, my Great Grandma Lottie Durling. This is a picture of a picture, taken a long time ago, when my Great Grandma was 102 years old (I think that is what Grandma told me). She lived 4 more years after that and died at 106 years old, it's amazing to me how much they resemble each other.
This is the house that my Uncle Chuck and my dad built for my Grandma to have her own home after their dad died, ( I think they were like 14 and 16 when they built it, Chuck apparently did the wiring and plumbing too.). I can't imagine any 14 and 16 year olds being capable of pulling it off, but they did! What a blessing for their family.
This is the farm and house my mom grew up on and the one that i have all my childhood memories with my grandparents in (Grandpa Frances and Grandma Grace Fellows). It looks a little sad now, but still has the same buildings. In between the two front trees is where they always had the buoy swing, which we loved.
This is the Farm that Great Uncle Calvin and Aunt Zita raised their family in. Aunt Zita lives just down the street in a newer house now (built around 1988 or 89 I think). Her son and wife own this farm now and rent it out.
This house belonged to my Great Grandma Lottie Durling, it's the home that we always visited her in as a child. The home she was in until she went into a nursing home in her late 90's. It has been sold and someone else owns it now but I have many found memories in that house, the doorbell you could ring, the porch swing, her old piano, the smells and her old toys and little stool she always had. The treasures in the attic, the meals around her table, for whatever reason the things that stand out to me concerning that are creamed peas, Vernors, peanut M&M's and fried chicken. I still Love her!
Further down the street is Great Uncle Coe's farm which they raised their family in, and Aunt Caroline still lives in.
A shot from Great Aunt Caroline's house on down the street on the right in the distance is Great Grandma Lottie Durlings house, the after that on the left is Great Uncle Coe and Great Aunt Zita's house. They all lived so close, I think it must have been a neat place to grow up with so many generations around. Pratville Church, the church my parents grew up going to church in, and the one we always attended when we visited. This is were the Memorial services were held the day of the funeral.
The burial site where Uncle Chuck was buried. The headstone to the left is the family headstone, on one side is Emen's the other is King.
One of the old monuments we thought were neat in the cemetary Uncle Chuck was buried in.
We saw everal of these in this cemetary, I have no idea if they stand for something bad or not but they were very interesting, see the little logs scattered around, they are individual headstones.
Steven Coe playing at the park behind Uncle Chucks house, one I played at as a child. Still has the old playground equipment and everything. It was soooo cold that day, he was frozen like an ice cube but didn't care, he didn't want to get off. In fact he threw a fit when we made him get off. See his little red hands, I can't imagine hanging on to that freezing metal with the cold wind whipping at his little face and body, but kid's don't seem to care.
This is the front view of my Grandma Helen Whittern's house, the house I always remember her in, it still looks the same inside and out.
The backside of her house, the sun room on the left was added later and has a root cellar under it where she did some painting for a while, but is now storage.
My cousin Tracy Harding, his niece Tiffany, Steven Coe (he stole her chair when she got up is what everyone is laughing at:-), my cousin Kim Foster. He was quite the funny guy, creating lot's of laughter.
My dad, Coe, and Steven Coe playing in the rocking recliner. Grandpa was rocking him back real hard and he thought it was so funny!
The Harding family. I only wish I had a better picture. Left to right:
Aunt Kay (my mom's sister), Uncle John Harding, Tracy Harding, Renee Foster,
Tiffany Foster, Kim Foster.
We were able to stay with my cousin Kim the whole time we were there, we are so thankful for her generosity. Her eldest daughter, Renee is about 15 weeks pregnant with her first child in the picture.
This is my cousin Kim's house were we stayed, it's just a short distance from her parents house where my parents stayed.
We drove to Chicago Saturday morning, and arrived in the afternoon so we took Steven Coe to the Linclon Park Zoo right in the heart of the City right next to Lake Michigan. It was really cold if you can't tell, but we really enjoyed it!
Dan and Steven viewing the tigers.
One of the lions.
Flamingos you can see the city sky scape in the background, pretty cool.
Dan and Steven Coe
Steven Coe hanging out on Daddies back.
Dan and Steven enjoying the Merry-go-round.
Steven Coe and Daddy, don't they look alike!
We stayed with my second Cousin Sharon Durling Saturday night in Chicago, we are thankful we got to spend some time with her. She let us stay in her gorgeous room she rents out. If you are ever in Chicago and need a beautiful suite to stay in, give her a call. She has a perfect downtown location, right across from DePaul University. Lot's of neat eateries, bars, shops etc.
Oh, by the way, Steven Coe is sleeping somewhere near the top of the King size if you look closely.
Sleepy Steven Coe, he's 16 months old now but still my little baby.
My second cousin Sharon Durling and Dan in her beautiful house.
